Password configuration for customers

Usage If you enable WPO365 to create users in Azure AD B2C / Entra External ID (AAD for Customers) from WordPress, then WPO365 can assign a temporary password to the new Azure user.

User not present

WPO365 will always create a temporary password, when the new user is created without that user being present. This is the case, for example, when an administrator is synchronizing users or (bulk) sending users from WordPress to Azure. Therefore, in this case, it does not really matter whether you select  Non-interactive registration: User did not enter pwd or Always.

User is present

When the user is present, for example, when the user is registering with your website as a customer and has entered a password, WPO365 can take this password and use it as the password for the new Azure user, if you selected  Non-interactive registration: User did not enter pwd.

Important Each time WPO365 takes the password entered by the user, there is a risk that Azure determines that the password is not strong enough. In this case, the user cannot be created successfully in Azure. Whether (WordPress) user registration should continue or whether it should be cancelled, can be configured by you, using the option to Exit user registration on failure.

WPO365 will always generate a WPO365 Health message in the WP Admin area to warn you.
In case user registration is not cancelled and a WordPress user is created, you will be able to review the user's Send to Azure status, by hovering over the status icon shown in WordPress All users list.

If you select  Always, then WPO365 will ignore a password entered by the user and will create a temporary password for the new user instead.

Important Whenever WPO365 creates a temporary password, it will also force the new Azure user to change the password on the next sign-in, plus send an email with the temporary password to the user. See this article for details on sending customer email notifications.

Default value Non-interactive registration: User did not enter pwd
